About Fescue Grass

Fescue grass is a popular option for its durability, attractiveness, weed resistance, and toughness.
With proper maintenance, Fescue can stand firmly against kids, pets, and general traffic. This characteristic is important during the fall when everyone is spending more time outside enjoying the cooler weather.
Fescue is tough. It can grow in compact soil where other plants would struggle. This combined with its nature of growing in tight clumps makes Fescue incredibly resistant against weeds. All of this is how Fescue grasses provide a beautiful and dense lawn.
Caring for Your Fescue Lawn
Let’s put the “care” back in lawn care with some tips rejuvenate your Fescue lawn after the dry heat of the summer:

  • Mowing: You should mow your Fescue lawn to between 3 and 3.5 inches. Do not remove more than 1/3 of the grass blades at each cutting. For optimal appearance, Fescue lawns should be mowed every 5–6 days. You don’t need to collect clippings, as they recycle back into the soil, providing extra nutrients. It is safe to mow immediately after we have applied our products.
  • Watering: You will know the turf needs water when it becomes dark bluish gray in color, shows footprints, and has wilted, folded, or curled blades. Water weekly with about 1 to 1.25 inches of water, wetting the soil to a depth of 4 to 6 inches.
